Caring Companionship
Emotional well-being, happiness and giving
meaning to life for our clients are all important goals for
Advantage Home Care. Ongoing, regular social interactions
are important for all people but especially for seniors who
may spend many hours alone in their own homes. Having a caring
and attentive caregiver can bring happiness and meaning into
elders lives by helping them:
- Engage in meaningful conversation
and mealtime companionship
- Participate in activities they used
to enjoy, such as gardening, sewing, knitting, cooking
and baking but can no longer do independently
- Communicate with other providers
such as repair and maintenance professionals, pharmacies
for prescriptions, doctor’s offices and medical laboratories
for appointments and hairstylists and manicurists for
beauty shop visits
- Act as liaison with professionals
in the home to do home repairs or install new equipment
Working in partnership and directed by our
clients, the caregiver can become the hands that do the
work that the elderly are really challenged to do themselves,
while allowing the senior to continue to do the tasks they
are capable of doing independently. This strengthens the
bonds between client and caregiver and fosters a relationship
of trust mutual respect that will allow the elder person
to ask for assistance with additional activities of daily
living that become difficult as the senior ages in places
and requires more care.
