Our caregivers are also specially trained and encouraged to assess their client’s home for safety, identifying any areas in the home that could be of possible danger to the senior’s including the exterior walkways and entryways; stairway railings; lighting and clutter; unsecured scatter rugs in rooms, halls and bathrooms: the presence of grab bars and raised commodes in bathrooms and up to date fire extinguishers, fire alarms and carbon monoxide alarms in recommended locations. In all cases the caregiver asks permission to conduct the assessment and then shares the assessment results with the client and their families as appropriate. Remedies to identified safety concerns that can be implemented during the regular scheduled work schedule are identified and a plan to make these changes is created. When third party providers are needed to make repairs Advantage Home Care can recommend reliable vendors providers to make these repairs and help schedule repair times to provide supervised access to the client’s home and provide feedback to the senior and their families.
